Vacation Off Grid

Teddy and I are getting back into our normal schedule after vacation. I still have tons of photos and videos to edit before I can share my trip to the Galapagos Islands with you. But for now, I am sharing what I learned about myself not having contact with the outside world.

I broke my trip into 2 parts; the first half was on a cruise through the uninhabited islands and the second part was diving off the main islands. When I did research for my trip to the Galápagos Islands, I read there would be no phone service. But I was in denial. I figured the cruise boat would have something even if it was weak. I also paid extra for the International phone plan. To my surprise, there was NO service anywhere. Plus no TV or Internet. After going through all the stages of denial, I started to love it!

I read 2 and a half books. I was able to enjoy the company of the people around me. I spent time star gazing at night. It felt great not to have to check my social media or emails. I can’t remember the last time I went on vacation and felt so free! I did get some service on the second half of my trip. But other than calling family and responding to a few emails I was happy to stay off the grid. I loved it so much that I plan to see how I can incorporate that feeling into my life weekly.

You may have noticed that I did have posts through out the week. I used Facebook Creator Studio to schedule all my posts before I left for vacation. It's a game changer! It allowed me to stay off the grid yet not abandon you guys. It was easy to use and even allowed me to tag companies. It did not allow me to use multiple photos per post or create stories. Or maybe I was't able to figure it out myself. I certainly plan to use Facebook Creator Studio more often in the future.

Stay tuned for more posts on the adventures I had in the Galapagos Islands!
