One of my goals for 2020 is to make more healthy and sustainable choices for Teddy and I on a budget. It is important to me to leave a livable planet to future generations. It may seem overwhelming, but making a few small changes adds up over time and can make a great impact on our environment. I started with simple steps such as using biodegradable poop bags and tossing my nonstick cooking pans for stainless steel ones. I wanted to make more changes and was curious to learn more about Public Goods when I saw other Influencers using their products.

From their website, you can see they are a transparent company because they list all the ingredients in their products. They do not use many unhealthy ingredients that are banned in Europe. Their products are biodegradable and compostable. Some products come with minimal packaging and others like shampoo and body wash use bottles made from sugarcane-based bioplastics. You can learn more about how they practice sustainability here.

All the products are delivered right to your front door and their packaging is simply beautiful so it fits right into the aesthetics of all homes. Most importantly, they are affordable making it easy for you to make one change at a time.

Verdict: By eliminating many harmful ingredients and using environmentally safe packaging, Public Goods products are safer, sustainable, and affordable. Take note that they are not a perfect company and still need to work toward eliminating more harmful ingredients and maybe even the removal of all plastics in their packaging.

Below you will find my review on all the products I tried from Public Goods. I gave each of them a rating out of 5 and if I would buy them again. Use my code SHARONANDTEDDYPGA for a discount. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Household

Surface & Glass Cleaner- I honestly did not think it could keep up with the messes in my home, but it did everything my other cleaning products do! Also, I do not have to feel bad using them because it does not have many of the harmful chemicals my other cleaners do, such as ammonia, sodium lauryl sulfate, or phthalates. I love the scent, which is a light jasmine smell. Most importantly, it did not leave any streaks. (I hate seeing the streaks on all my appliances.) The container is 100% recyclable and Public Goods offers refill tubes, you just pour the contents into your 24-ounce spray bottle, add water and shake.

Rating: 5/5

Purchase Again: Yes! These are my go to cleaners now.

Dishwasher Detergent- The dishwasher detergent did a great job on my dirty dishes. I usually do not pre-rinse before I put my dishes into the dishwasher. All my dishes except the stainless steel pan came out sparkling. This was to be expected as my last dishwasher detergent wasn't able to clean my stainless steel pan perfectly.

Rating: 5/5

Purchase Again: Yes, this is my go to dishwasher detergent now.

Bamboo Straws- A must for every household! I love these! I use them around my house and take them to go in the pouch. The brush that’s included makes it easy to clean.

Rating: 5/5

Purchase Again: Definitely! You need these!

Reusable Mesh Grocery Bag- Another item every household absolutely needs to have! I am guilty of using plastic bags but with these reusable mesh bags I do not have to feel guilty.

Rating: 5/5

Purchase Again: Yes!

Personal Care

Deodorant- I am on the fence with the deodorant. I normally use an antiperspirant (versus a deodorant) which has aluminum to control sweating. It has a light masculine refreshing smell and it does a great job controlling odor. But as I previously stated, it does not control sweat or wet-ness. I will continue wearing it on my non-workout days as I am working on eliminating harmful chemicals in my life

Rating: 3/5

Purchase Again: Probably not.

Toothpaste- The toothpaste has a mild peppermint taste that is great and does not have a gritty texture when brushing. It has peppermint essential oil but does not have fluoride or other harsh foaming agents. I plan to try their bamboo toothbrushes, which are 100% biodegradable.

Rating: 5/5

Purchase Again: Definitely!

Grocery

Coffee- I purchased the whole bean but they do offer a ground option. These beans are organically grown and fairly traded from Central and South America. Since I drink at least 2 cups of coffee a day, I am extremely picky with my coffee and I love this ones taste! Coffee is notoriously known to have pesticides but this one is organic and does not contain any pesticides.

Rating: 5/5

Purchase Again: Yes, I am putting it in rotation with my other organic Trader Joe coffee.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray- I only bought this because Trader Joe’s stopped carrying their version. This one is just as good! It does not have any silicone or aerosols.

Rating: 5/5

Purchase Again: Absolutely!

Dog Products

Poop bags- They are easy to open (why is it so hard to open certain poop bags!)

Rating: 5/5

Purchase Again: Yes

Sweet Potato Fry Chews- These are only one ingredient: sweet potato! They are Teddy approved and I even tried them (super chewy).

Rating: 5/5

Purchase Again: Teddy says yes!
