What Are the Benefits of Pumpkin?

Pumpkin is low in calories yet a nutrient-dense food packed with a range of essential vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, C and E. Beta Carotene, the precursor to Vitamin A, is what gives it the orange color. Pumpkin has antioxidants, which can help prevent certain cancers from developing. Oxidants are a normal part of our immune system, but too many can damage your cells and cause cancer. Antioxidant help destroy these oxidants or free radicals.

Pumpkin is great for keeping our digestive system regular. That’s because it’s loaded with fiber which adds bulk to your dog’s stool by absorbing water. Fiber also acts like a prebiotic, which stimulates the activity of beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

There are so many great benefits to eating pumpkin. This recipe will get your dog’s tail wagging for more!

PLEASE NOTE:

When purchasing canned pumpkin, make sure it is NOT pie filling.
